Hello everyone!
I thought I would make a post about one of my true loves - cats. Cats will forever hold a special place in my heart. Since I was a little girl, cats have fascinated me and a fraction of me has always wanted to be one (who wouldn't want to spend their days napping in the sun??).

Here I am pestering this little barn kitten which was roaming around my boyfriend's house. They have a lot of outdoor cats around their home, some strays some not. The tamer ones stay in the enclosed porch of their house, and they like to snuggle together in the sun and run after mice. I can spend an afternoon sitting on their immense deck and play with the little rascals. Hanging out with cats is an escape for me, and also a big anxiety relief. I am pretty sure it is a scientifically proven fact that petting cats helps reduce stress (note to self: pet more cats!). Around this time of year though, it breaks my heart, because these tiny bundles of fur need to stay outside on the porch in the dreadful cold. I mean sure, at least the porch is enclosed and they have food, water, and a place to lay. But when you walk into the porch and they start mewling and their tiny paws are so cold, I can't help but want to take them all home and tuck them into a warm blanket.
My boyfriend and I just recently visited our local Human Society. I had been avoiding it because I did not think I would be able to handle the animals in cages. I do follow their Facebook page on my account, and I had been seeing a lot of cats recently I wanted to meet. So I decided to steel my emotions and visit the place.
This first thing I noticed when visiting the kitties (every cat I saw I made the weirdest dinosaur squeal, my boyfriend rolled his eyes every time) was that most of them were black cats. Are people STILL suspicious of black cats? REALLY? They were so unbelievably calm and nice, I was in heaven. A lot of them were BIG cats too. Who wouldn't want a fat, fluffy cat to cuddle? They are the BEST cuddlers. Curling up with a good book, cup of tea, and a cat curled up on your lap is the greatest feeling ever. So much love.
I know now that I will be visiting the Humane Society more often. And I am also thinking that I will look into volunteering once school is over and I have more free time. Why not spend my free time with more cats, right?
Now, the best part. Let me introduce my two lovely felines that rule my house: Carby and Boots.
Carby is the large tabby cat, and Boots is the spunky black and white lady. They were both adopted from my boyfriend's farm house. I fell in love with these two:
it was an immediate connection, and my family loves them as well. My sister and Boots also have a very strong connection.

These guys right here are sometimes the only ones that can get me going during the day. I will be laying in bed, incapable of getting up and starting my day, when I will hear the pitter patter of their paws coming down the stairs and coming towards my bedroom to see if I am awake. Waking up to one of them in the morning asking for cuddles (unless it's at an ungodly hour like 5 a.m) is one of the greatest feelings of love ever. If you're a cat lover of course. If not you might be a bit frustrated about getting woken up by fuzzy butts.
I will leave it at that. Cats rock. I will forever be a cat mama. Here is another picture of me loving kittens. Until next time xo
